I don't claim to have been following super-closely, but as I understand it, there were two board seats up for election. The board then revealed there was a third open seat, which they proceeded to vote to fill with an outgoing board member who had come in last in the elections. (It may also be worth noting that the board member in question voted for this, rather than abstaining.) People protested, and some prominent committee members started pushing for a vote of no confidence. The rest of the board then proceeded to resign, leaving only the two newly elected members. This is being hailed in fandom as a positive development.
