rarewomen Author,
Thank you for writing for me! Hopefully you've gotten some sense of my preferences from my signup, but just in case: I like history, backstory, and little details that enhance canon, as well as minor characters and bits of humor. I'm okay with sad endings and character deaths, but I don't like torture or unrelenting darkfic that doesn't allow for any hope. My romantic preferences are pretty vanilla (no rape, incest, unexpected bodily fluids, etc.), and if you don't want to write sex or any pairings whatsoever, I won't mind.
More specific notes on my requested fandoms and characters:
Harry Potter
As I said in my shorter summary, I see Amelia as being somewhere around a 5.99 on the Kinsey Scale - but if that's not your thing, I'd be just as happy with a story about her relationship with her family, or her friendships/rivalries with her fellow Aurors, or navigating Ministry politics in general.
For Helena, I'd prefer a story that doesn't focus on her relationship with the Baron. It can either be while she's alive or as a ghost, but a glimpse into her life or afterlife that frees her from that moment would be nice.
For Eileen, I don't need too many graphic details about the times Tobias hit her or worse - in fact, if you want to just focus on her school days, that would be great - but don't feel you have to shy away from the unhappiness in her marriage.
For Parvati and/or Padma, something that acknowledges their heritage as well as their being twins might be nice. I'd also like to see them portrayed as having smarts, or at least social savvy.
Discworld
For Susan, "her role" can be as a governess and schoolteacher as much as her inherited duties...though as I said, a cameo from her grandfather would still be nice if you focus more on the former than the latter. Similarly, with Sybil, I'd like to see her as a duchess and a dragon welfare proponent and a wife and mother. I should note if you're going to write Granny that I haven't read the Tiffany Aching series, and I'm not too attached to keeping her in Lancre so long as she's using "headology" on some folks in need of it. As for Ptraci, I'd just be happy to see something with her in it.
The Magicians
I love the system of magic in the Magicians. I love the meta-commentary, and the questions it raises about the nature of fantasy. What I don't love is the protagonist, and his self-entitlement, and how every awesome female character who comes into his orbit has to suffer for it in some way.
So if you write Julia-fic, don't do to her what canon did. Have her stop the incantation before it starts. Or go back further, and send her to Brakebills in Quentin's place. Julia and Alice and maybe Janet teaming up with Jane to...well, to do anything would be phenomenal.
Of course, Jane on her own would be fine, too. As I said in my Yuletide prompt, anything with her makes me happy. Or Asmodeus and/or Eleanor, growing up to be kickass magicians. I might even be able to stand Quentin in an Eleanor fic, provided she's busy calling him out for his passivity. Maybe. Possibly.
Good luck, and thank you again!
