It's fest reveal time for Remix and Beholder! (And boy, am I depressed this is the last time I'll get to say that about the latter.) First, the stories written for me:

Remix:
Like a Bull in a Joke Shop, by [livejournal.com profile] iulia_linnea  (remixed from Cost-Benefit Analysis).  The original is a silly dialogue-only gen ficlet about Alastor Moody's failed attempt to become a shop clerk.  (I was originally going to do a "five things" story where Moody would go through several misguided career choices before finally winding up at MLE, but ran out of energy after the first installment.)  The remix keeps the humor and the style, but adds a great deal of enjoyable backstory - much of it involving a character I only included as an afterthought, and may now need to adjust my headcanon to incorporate.

Beholder:
Could Not Love You Any Better, by [livejournal.com profile] katmarajade, a terribly sweet (but never cloying) Charity Burbage/Amelia Bones romance.  I'm always a sucker for a good Amelia pairing, and as it turns out, Charity is an inspired choice.  The fic captures the insecurities that beset even the most established of couples from time to time in a way that rings true to life, with a delightful resolution and too many clever details that help flesh out the characters and the relationship to list.

And now for my work... )

Next up, Not Prime Time and...well, I guess we'll have to see, won't we?

Hello? Anyone still out there?

*sound of crickets*

Yeah, yeah, I probably deserve that. And it's not like I have that many followers on this account anyway, though their numbers have somehow increased in my absence. (*waves to [personal profile] lyras*)

But for the benefit of anyone still out there, hi! Since my last post on here, I've officially earned my degree (somehow) and officially left Boston. I do not have a job yet, though I'm working on it. (If you happen to know of any mid-level fundraising positions in the greater DC or Philly area, shoot me a message and let's talk.)

Also, to maintain my sanity in the midst of the wall of spreadsheets that was my final semester, I wrote fic for [insanejournal.com profile] hp_beholder and [livejournal.com profile] springtime_gen. By coincidence, both my stories got posted at the same time, which allowed me to play a fun little game of "Which typically hated character are people more willing to suspend their dislike and read about: Rita Skeeter or Marietta Edgecombe?" (For the record, the comments came out about even, though more people made a point of noting they'd never expected to feel anything approaching goodwill toward Rita.) If you'd like to play along and haven't already, the stories are now up at my Ao3 account:

Between Prospects (Rita Skeeter/Mrs. Zabini, background Rita/others and Mr. Zabini/Mrs.Zabini; R for sexual situations and offscreen minor character deaths; 6333 words)
Strength in Numbers (Marietta Edgecombe, Millicent Bulstrode, Lavender Brown, background Percy Weasley/Audrey; G apart from one or two slightly naughty words; 5103 words)

Also, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention my gifts from both exchanges: a lovely Pansy/Millicent vignette by [personal profile] musyc for Beholder, and the even more unexpected but delightful platonic pairing of Pansy and Arthur for Springtime_Gen by [personal profile] lyras.

So, anyway, I think those are the important items. I know better than to promise more regular updates from now on, but I think I can at least guarantee greater frequency.

My 2009 [insanejournal.com profile] hp_beholder entry, plus a pair of drabbles I missed from [livejournal.com profile] mctabby's 2007 Cat's Birthday Drabblethon.

Drabbles
Untitled (The Malfoy family line is not as pure as they would like to think). (Gen: Lucius Malfoy; G.)
Untitled (Scrimgeour Family Reunion). (Gen: Rufus Scrimgeour; G.)

Fic
Lady of Sorrows. (The Grey Lady/Sir Cadogan; PG; 5274 words.) A budding romance between a ghost and a portrait could be a tale out of a storybook. But does Helena Ravenclaw's "fairy godfather" have good intentions, or something more sinister in mind?

(Don't want this journal to be totally empty in the unlikely event someone wanders over here after the [insanejournal.com profile] hp_beholder reveals.)

Drabbles
For 2008_drabbles (original comm has been deleted, alas):
Table I, Political. (15 drabbles, gen and various pairings, highest rating PG.) Of particular note: The Cruelest Cut. (Gen: Susan Bones; PG. Third Place - Best Canon Compliant.)
Table C, Women. (8 drabbles, gen and various pairings, highest rating PG.) Of particular note: Look at Me. (Gen: Madam Rosmerta, Minerva McGonagall; PG. Third Place - Best Gen.)

For [insanejournal.com profile] phoenix_flies, from strongest to weakest:
Irreparable Damage. (Gen: Percy Weasley, G.)
Intoxication. (Neville Longbottom/Hannah Abbott, G.)
Something in Common. (Viktor Krum/Penelope Clearwater, implied Ron Weasley/Hermione Granger; G.)
The Messenger. (Gen: Parvati Patil, with implied Ron Weasley/Lavender Brown and Ron Weasley/Hermione Granger; G.)

Fic
For [insanejournal.com profile] hp_beholder:
Driving Mrs. Weasley. (Molly Weasley/Arthur Weasley; G; 1403 words). In a missing moment from Chamber of Secrets, Molly and Arthur make up after the Ford Anglia fight.

For [livejournal.com profile] hp_rarities:
Something Old, Something New. (Pansy Parkinson/Draco Malfoy, Pansy Parkinson/Ron Weasley; PG-13; 6688 words.) Draco Malfoy is getting married. To someone who isn't Pansy Parkinson. Drastic measures must be taken.

For [livejournal.com profile] lgbtfest:
Immutability. (Gen: Minerva McGonagall, Amelia Bones; PG; 1162 words.) Miss Bones has a problem Minerva doesn't think she can solve. She's more right than she realizes.

Before I get to the meme and my own work, if you are a fan of Potter rarepairs, please go show the fic I received for [insanejournal.com profile] hp_beholder some love. It's a short little PG-rated scene of cat and mouse between Rufus Scrimgeour and Rita Skeeter set during the First War, and it's a lot of fun. (Ignore the author's disclaimer; her Rita's just fine.)

Such Is the Flare Through.
