miramiraIt's fest reveal time for Remix and Beholder! (And boy, am I depressed this is the last time I'll get to say that about the latter.) First, the stories written for me:
Remix:

iulia_linnea (remixed from Cost-Benefit Analysis). The original is a silly dialogue-only gen ficlet about Alastor Moody's failed attempt to become a shop clerk. (I was originally going to do a "five things" story where Moody would go through several misguided career choices before finally winding up at MLE, but ran out of energy after the first installment.) The remix keeps the humor and the style, but adds a great deal of enjoyable backstory - much of it involving a character I only included as an afterthought, and may now need to adjust my headcanon to incorporate.
Beholder:
Could Not Love You Any Better, bykatmarajade, a terribly sweet (but never cloying) Charity Burbage/Amelia Bones romance. I'm always a sucker for a good Amelia pairing, and as it turns out, Charity is an inspired choice. The fic captures the insecurities that beset even the most established of couples from time to time in a way that rings true to life, with a delightful resolution and too many clever details that help flesh out the characters and the relationship to list.

Remix main assignment:
within the silver mirror (A breath won from the air Remix), Justice League/Justice League Unlimited, Bruce/Diana. The original author, Nancy Brown, had a lot of drabbles in this fandom I didn't think I could make any more interesting than they already were, but this one seemed to cry out for an expanded look. I didn't quite expect that look to extend all the way back to Bruce's childhood when I started writing, but I suppose that should never come as a total surprise where Batman is concerned.
Remix Madness:
Can't Fight the Moonlight (Midnight Visitor Remix), Harry Potter, Lavender Brown/Daphne Greengrass, prominently featuring Astoria Greengrass. I kind of need all the fic featuring the original's take on Astoria, but this will have to do for a start.
Sexorexia (The Rationalization Remix), Reboot!Trek, Nyota Uhura gen. Ever since Office Hours, I've been telling myself I need to write more Uhura, and the original (which was focused on Gaila, who I've also always wanted to do something with, except I know I couldn't do nearly as good a job) offered a perfect opportunity.
The Palace Beautiful (Valley of the Shadow of Death Remix), Little Women AU. I knew there was no way I could match the brilliance of the original concept (Little Women in space!), but the ending jumped into my head and refused to dislodge itself, so I felt compelled to write it.
Beholder:
Centaurs and Merfolk, Millicent Bulstrode/Dudley Dursley, with past Millicent/Vincent Crabbe and a fairly substantive appearance by Petunia Dursley. I swear I was going to try my hand at smut for once, and instead I wound up with family drama. I think it works, though.
Next up, Not Prime Time and...well, I guess we'll have to see, won't we?
